Career conference „To new hights with a PhD degree!“

On 16 May, the Estonian Doctoral School Career Conference will be held in Tallinn to discuss the value of doctoral studies and the career prospects of doctoral students. All Estonian doctoral students and those interested in doctoral studies are welcome to attend. The conference will be held in Estonian with simultaneous English translation.

The aim of the conference is to raise awareness of the value of doctoral studies and to show doctoral students how to develop influential, diverse and rewarding careers. Inspiring presentations will be given both by Doctors and current doctoral students. Discussions will explore how the skills and knowledge acquired during doctoral studies are useful in different areas of life and in various fields, including the advantages in the labour market.

Panel discussions provide participants with PhD-related practical knowledge and experience about career opportunities in the public sector, business or elsewhere.

The conference day is led and panel sessions are moderated by journalist, presenter and editor Joonas Hellerma.

The organisers ask you to confirm your participation by 13 May at the latest.

Poster presentations

All doctoral students are invited to actively participate in the conference! Present your research work with a popular science poster presentation or create a short cartoon on the topic “My everyday life as a doctoral candidate”. At the end of the conference day, the best presentations and comics will be determined and deservedly rewarded.

The number of poster presentations is limited, so timely indicate your request separately on the registration form no later than May 10 at the latest.

This year's conference is organised in cooperation with all Estonian universities within the framework of the Estonian Doctoral School project. The Doctoral School brings together the University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, University of Tallinn, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Estonian Academy of Arts, Estonian Business School and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The aim of the project is to offer high-quality doctoral studies in cooperation with the partners and to explain the value of doctoral studies to future doctoral students, employers and the public.
